SNAP Expands Qualification for Relief

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – or SNAP – which helps fight hunger among working New Yorkers has just been expanded as part of Governor Cuomo’s Anti-Hunger Task Force. The qualification earned income level has increased to $2,512 per month for a family of three, now giving access to more than 750,000 additional working families who can qualify for relief. SNAP participants may use their benefits to purchase healthy, fresh food options at participating farmers’ markets in New York, and through the FreshConnect Checks program they can make their benefits go even further.
