Zero Tolerance for Drunk Driving Cars & Boats

Senator David Carlucci, Rockland county Sheriff Louis Falco, MADD Chapter Leader Sally Borgman among others stood together yesterday to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving over the July 4th holiday. Carlucci said that the summer makes up the “100 deadliest days” for drunk driving from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Law enforcement will be out in full force this holiday weekend. Falco said officers will have “zero tolerance” for drunk drivers not only in cars but also on boats. There will be county and local sobriety checkpoints during the weekend, with additional officers patrolling the streets. Carlucci also called for passage of legislation for a “two strikes and you’re out” rule that would permanently revoke a drunk driver’s license after two offenses. At WRCR we remind you that if alcohol is part of your holiday celebration pick a designated driver – drunk driving kills 10,000 people in the U.S. each year and it is easily avoidable with a plan.
