Cuomo Signs $3M State Aid for Oversight in East Ramapo

Yesterday, Governor Andrew Cuomo made it official when he signed the “oversight” bill that legislators had designed to provide greater control of the East Ramapo schools in exchange for $3 million in state aid. The law takes effect today, and gives state Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia the ability to appoint three monitors who oversee the school district and the school board must now submit their budget proposal for approval by the state before getting voters approval.
