Gay Pride March Sunday

On Sunday, the Gay Pride March took place in Greenwich Village. The march started at 36th Street and Fifth Avenue ending at Christopher and Greenwich Street, passing the recently register historical landmark, Stonewall Inn, considered the birthplace of the gay liberation movement.  It has been estimated that approximately 20,000 people showed up to lend their support for the LGBT community and to mourn the loss of the 49 people recently massacred at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida. NYPD and their counterterrorism unit lined the route as a precautionary measure, while Police Commissioner William Bratton took part in the event.
