May is National Bike Month

May is National Bike month and this week May 16th-20th is Bike to Work Week. According to the League of American Bicyclists 40% of all trips in the U.S. are less than two miles, making bicycling a fun way to get to work. More and more people are interested in a healthy, sustainable and cheap way to get to work and from 2000-2013 the number of bicycle commuters grew more than 62%. According to statistics approximately 86,000 New Yorkers already commute on two wheels. There are now more than 1,000 miles of bike lanes in the city with more coming. So get out and enjoy Rockland on a bike this week (make sure to wear a helmut). If you are driving a car share the road.
