Frozen Food Recall Expanded

Last week, WRCR reported on the CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington voluntary recall of organic and traditional frozen fruit and vegetables due to an illness outbreak of listeriosis, according to the FDA. According to sources, CRF is now expanding that recall to include 47 million pounds of frozen chicken and meat products that include veggies. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s food Safety and Inspection Service announced that the products that may be contaminated have been recalled from Costco, Trader Joe’s and several other stores. The products are being recalled because they contain vegetables that may be contaminated. It does not include meats that stand alone. According to sources, the contamination was discovered when Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc notified CRF Frozen Foods that the originally recalled frozen vegetables are used in their products. The products they are including had various dates between May 1, 2014 and May 1, 2016. In a statement Trader Joe’s says that all affected products have been removed from their shelves and destroyed.
