Bobby G. Jackson Arrested in Smith Murder

In Mount Vernon, there has been an arrest for the shooting death of 42-year old Charles Smith who was gunned down on Sunday, April 18th near Second Avenue. The alleged shooter is Bobby G. Jackson of 303 W. 122nd Street. Jackson was arrested and charged with second-degree murder by Mount Vernon police April 20th according to a statement from the Mount Vernon’s mayor’s office. Acting police Commissioner Ron Fatigate said that Jackson has a lengthy police record that includes several felony convictions. On the same day, shortly after Smith’s murder, a second person was shot outside the Levister Towers at 241 S. Ninth Avenue. That victim survived the attack. The investigation is ongoing as to whether the two crimes are related.
