National Public Health Week Begins

NEW CITY – Yesterday, Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert announced the start of National Public Health Week, April 4-April 10. This year’s theme, “The Healthiest Nation in One Generation”, is intended to raise awareness of what public health is, why it is essential, and how it impacts everyone’s life. Rockland County ranks third in New York State for healthy living in 2016, based on a recent report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Dr. Schnabel was pleased that Rockland ranked in the top five counties stating, “This is a testament to all the wonderful work done by our health care providers, schools, worksites, and municipalities.” According to Dr. Schnabel “there is still much work to do” and residents can view the full health report at www.countyhealthrankings.org
