Hoehmann Announces Independent Consultant

CLARKSTOWN – Town Supervisor, George Hoehmann, is keeping his campaign promise that he would find tax relief for the citizens of Clarkstown. In January he called for proposals seeking ideas for “sharing and regionalizing services” in the Police Department. In February his department reviewed those proposals and he is now announcing the hiring of a consulting firm to begin the process. The Clarkstown Police Department has a $50 Million dollar budget, accounting for 34 percent of Clarkstown’s total budget. Supervisor Hoehmann, stated on The Morning Show yesterday that he has selected The Bonadio Group, a top accounting firm, to review and analyze the police department’s hiring’s, work schedules, overtime and specialized units. He would also be reevaluating the contract with the Police Benevolent Association that expires end of December 2017. Hoehmann’s intention is to do “a thorough, top-to-bottom” review of every aspect of the Police Department.” He continued, “We’re going to find efficiencies and cost savings, find ways we can do things better.” According to sources, The Town Board is expected to approve the hiring of The Bonadio Group this evening. The initial plan is a 90-day study of the Police Department. Police Chief Michael Sullivan and the PBA are working in cooperation with Hoehmann and the firm once approved.
