Email Bomb Threat in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY – Yesterday, before 8 am an alleged bomb threat was emailed to the Spring Valley High School and village police department. The high school was immediately evacuated. Students found themselves standing in the road during yesterday’s snowstorm. According to sources, the East Ramapo school district sent buses to Orange & Rockland Utilities near the school for students to keep warm. Village police called for support from the county sheriff’s bomb squad and they proceeded to search the facility with bomb detection equipment and trained dogs. A portion Route 59 was closed during the search causing a back up in commuter traffic. Spring Valley firefighters were called in to handle the traffic flow. By 10 am, when the school was cleared and students had returned to class, a second alleged bomb threat was emailed into the municipal complex on Route 45. Employees were evacuated and the building was searched and cleared for employees to return to work by 11 am. The investigation is ongoing.
