MEMPHIS – Today is the anniversary of the killing of Martin Luther King in Memphis, Tennessee. The civil rights leader was in Memphis to support a sanitation worker’s strike and was on his way to a dinner when a sniper’s bullet struck and killed him. It was on April 3rd that King gave his last sermon, preaching, “I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land.” King was 39.
