Ramapo 25 Acre Land Transfer

RAMAPO – Thursday, the Town Board unanimously approved the transfer of 25 acres at 301 Pomona Road to the Rockland Local Development Corporation for commercial and/or mixed use. All zoning, environment and building approvals would go through the village of New Hempstead where the land is located. The RLDC has three years to meet the development approval process or the land is transferred back to the town. Town Supervisor, Christopher St. Lawrence announced the vote on The Morning Show with Steve & Jordan. He explained that the town is interested in attracting a hotel, food services, and stores taking a now tax exempt property and getting it back on the tax rolls. It would also increase short- and long-term jobs and create economic growth and stability to nearby Provident Bank Ballpark. St. Lawrence said, “This is just the first step in a long process that will require many meetings with the town.”
