NYS On Track To meet Energy Goals

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced that in the past four years, 112,000 residential and commercial energy efficiency projects have been completed or are currently under development through NYS clean energy programs. These projects will attract $766M in private investment and will save customers $341M on their energy bills each year. Homeowners are saving an average of $56 per month on electric and natural gas bills, and building owners are saving more than a $1,000 per month. Cuomo stated, “Smarter, more efficient energy infrastructure is crucial to building a better future for NYS.” The projects include energy efficient homes and energy efficient commercial buildings that will create a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to taking 168,000 cars off the road annually. This will support the state in meeting its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent and energy consumption by 23 percent by 2030.
