NYS Flu Season Continues

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is telling us that flu season is not over and it’s not too late to get your flu shot. NY State, Puerto Rico and 14 other states have shown high levels of Outpatient visits for influenza-like illness. A flu shot is recommended by the CDC for anyone 6 months or older. The CDC says, “This season’s flu vaccine is nearly 60 percent effective against all circulating viruses.” Vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, flu-related hospitalizations, missed work and school. Getting your flu shot now can still offer you protection until the end of the season. As of the end of February, more than 146 million doses of flu vaccine have been distributed in the United States.
