NYS Steps Up Funding for Addiction

ALBANY – Assembly Speaker, Carl Heastie announced yesterday that the New York State Assembly is backing $30M in funding to attack the growing epidemic of heroin addiction in New York State. As part of the Assembly’s one-house budget proposal, the funds are intended for support and treatment dealing with opiate and heroin addiction. Speaker Heastie said in a statement, “All across New York State, it has become clear that we need to step up our game in the fight against heroin and opiate addiction. It has taken too many lives and touched too many homes. That’s why the Assembly has proposed to increase funding significantly from last year.”
