Bloomberg “I could not win”

New York – Last night, Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City, announced in the BloombergView, that he would not be jumping into the race for President as an Independent. According to Bloomberg, “…many Americans have urged me to run.” He noted that the deadline to decide is now due to ballot access requirements. After much consideration, Bloomberg stated, “it’s clear to me that if I entered the race, I could not win.” He believes that while he would garner a diverse number of states he would most likely divide the vote and elect,  “a candidate who would weaken our unity and darken our future”. In closing he stated, “many have given their lives to defend our nation – and all of us have an obligation as voters to stand up on behalf of ideas and principles that, as Lincoln said, represent ‘the last best hope of earth.’ I hope and pray I’m doing that”.
