Noramie Jasmine surrenders to federal authorities

NORAMIE JASMIN, THE FORMER MAYOR OF SPRING VALLEY, HAS SURRENDERED TO FEDERAL AUTHORITIES AND BEGUN SERVING HER SENTENCE SINCE HER GUILTY VERDICT IN APRIL OF 2015. SHE WAS EXPECTED TO BEGIN HER 4-YEAR SENTENCE IN NOVEMBER, HOWEVER IT WAS DELAYED UNTIL FEBRUARY 1ST AND THEN AGAIN DELAYED FOR SURGERY. JASMIN WAS CONVICTED FOR ACCEPTING KICKBACKS TO FORCE THROUGH A CATERING HALL AND COMMUNITY CENTER, ACCORDING TO THE U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IN THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK. SHE HAD PARTNERED WITH REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER TURNED FBI INFORMANT, MARK STERN, IN REGARDS TO A $12M PROJECT ON A 30-FOOT DEEP DITCH ON ROUTE 45 OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE MUNICIPAL COMPLEX. JASMIN SOLD HER VOTE FOR A 50% OWNERSHIP IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND $5000. SHE WAS CONVICTED OF EXTORTION AND WIRE FRAUD. JASMIN WILL SERVE HER SENTENCE AT FEDERAL PRISON CAMP ALDERSON IN WEST VIRGINIA. ALONG WITH NORAMIE JASMIN, STERN GARNERED DEPUTY MAYOR JOSEPH DESMARET’S VOTE FOR $10,800 AND IN APRIL DESMARET WAS SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR 3-YEARS. THE CASE AGAINST STERN REMAINS SEALED.
