Nyack Implements 15 Minute Free Parking

NYACK OFFICIALS ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK THAT A NEW PROGRAM IS BEING IMPLEMENTED IN THE VILLAGE TO ALLOW DRIVERS FIFTEEN MINUTES OF FREE PARKING. MAYOR JENN LAIRD-WHITE STATED THAT THE NEW INITIATIVE IS AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE PARKING, WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN A LITTLE RISKY IN NYACK, EASIER FOR RESIDENTS, SHOPPERS, AND BUSINESS OWNERS. THE HOPE IS THAT MORE ROCKLAND COUNTY VISITORS WILL FEEL COMFORTABLE SHOPPING AT BUSINESSES ALONG MAIN STREET AND BROADWAY WITHOUT THE FEAR OF GETTING A TICKET. WITH THE PROGRAM, DRIVERS CAN PRINT A TICKET GOOD FOR FIFTEEN FREE MINUTES FROM A PARKING METER BY PRESSING THE GREEN BUTTON. THE TIME WILL BE ENFORCED, AND CARS PARKED FOR LONGER THAN FIFTEEN MINUTES WILL LIKELY FACE FINES TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM REPRINTING THE TICKETS OVER AND OVER.
