Two Bergen County Men Charged With Virtual Theft

Two brothers from New Milford were charged with credit-card theft over the weekend after New Jersey authorities discovered digital theft of virtual currency totaling over $10,000. The virtual money, called bitcoins, were allegedly received in exchange for actual currency and once the bitcoins were transferred into his account and withdrawn, 24 year-old Francis Montecillo had the bank reverse the transfer. Montecillo was charged with attempted credit card theft, fraudulent use of credit cards, and computer related-theft and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on $110,000 bail. His court date is scheduled for this Wednesday. His younger brother Kenneth received lesser charges of theft and fraud and was issued a summons to appear in Paramus Municipal Court for later this month.
