Rockland County CSEA Agreement Imminent

The New York Civil Service Employees Association, known as CSEA, has reached an agreement with the County of Rockland that will extend to July 31st of this year. The new labor agreement which passed by a 3 to 1 margin, will be retroactive from the first of this month and is the first raise for the workers in 6 years. The first and second raises will combine to an overall $0.65 cent increase, extra vacation days, and improved vision benefits. The county legislators will now review the new contract for approval. Negotiations had been going on for over a year for the 1,300 workers belonging to the CSEA Rockland County Unit 8350 as the previous contracts ran out over three years ago. Labor Relations Specialists Larry Sparber concedes that, “There is no question that frustrations remain, but our members ultimately felt this contract was a step in the right direction.”
