MLK Day Brings Communities Out To Volunteer

Today, the third Monday of January, marks the Federal holiday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is a national day of service for Volunteer New York!, a nonprofit organization connecting Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam County residents with volunteering opportunities. According to their website, “The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community.” Communities along the Hudson Valley gathered together at various food pantries, nursing homes, libraries, and communities centers to devote the day serving others.
