Orange County Official Charged With Embezzling Funds

Former Treasurer for Orange County Legislature Carmen Dubaldi was arraigned in Goshen Village Court Wednesday, charged with stealing more than $120,000 from Chairman Steve Brescia, County Clerk Annie Rabbitt, former county Executive Ed Diana, and State Senator William Larkin. Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright explained that the months-long investigation uncovered alleged embezzling of campaign funds resulting in charges of three counts of third-degree grand larceny. Public documents show that Dubaldi has made restitution payments to Senator Larkin and Diana. Dubaldi, who resigned from his posts as campaign treasurer and New Windsor Republican chairman, surrendered to State Police in Monroe for processing. His attorney, Tom Melanson, has not responded for comment to his client’s arrest.
