Former Westchester Police Chief Sentenced To Prison

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara, released a statement regarding Wednesday’s sentencing of former Police Chief of Mount Pleasant, Brian Fanelli, to 18 months in prison for possession of child pornography. United States District Judge Kenneth Karas also added five years of supervised release and forfeiture of his computer to the prison term. Last July, Fanelli plead guilty to one count of possessing child pornography after Department of Homeland Security agents raided his home, seizing his personal computer. Court documents show that Fanelli participated in peer-to-peer file sharing to download videos and images which were available to other users for download as well. For eight years, he served as a volunteer catechism teacher at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak lecturing more than 1,000 parish schoolchildren on staying safe from sexual abuse on social media, games and computer applications.
