More Court Filings By Baroni In Bridgegate Scandal

A former New Jersey official, once part of the Christie administration is fighting back in the lawsuit alleging his involvement in the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal from September 2013. In court filings from Tuesday, Bill Baroni, also a former deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York, claims the lawsuit filed by residents and business owners of Fort Lee, New Jersey should be dismissed because it does not specify what damages occurred and fails to connect him to the alleged plot. Baroni and former deputy chief of staff for Christie, Bridget Anne Kelly, were both indicted in May of this year on seven counts of conspiracy, fraud and related charges alleging an orchestration of lane closures as retaliation against Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich for not endorsing Christie’s re-election campaign. The presiding judge has set the trial date to April 4 of next year, pushing the date from March to allow defense lawyers extra time to review documents.
