Ex-RCC Union President Gets Probation From Felony Charges

A Rockland County Judge opted for probation and community service for the former Rockland Community College union president who took over $200,000 to pay for divorce fees among other expenses. 62 Year-old Hackensack resident, Clifford Garner was dismissed by the college in 2014 after charges were filed that he took from the college between 2010 and 2014 by padding his hotel stays during travel abroad trips with RCC students and for making court-ordered divorce payments to his ex-wife. The prosecution pushed for 3 1/2 to 10 years of prison time however as Garner was able to repay the $230,000 in stolen funds, Judge Rolf Thorsen sentenced Garner to 5 years probation and 250 hours of community service.
