Upstate New York Casinos Await Committee Approval

Three upstate New York casinos are expected to be granted licenses after the state Gaming Commission meets this afternoon. Of the sixteen developers who puts in bids after the 2013 legislation was passed, Schenectady, Thompson in Sullivan County, and Tyre of Seneca County were selected as projects to spur economic development. The Commission vowed to complete the review process by years end with developers anxious to obtain approval and break ground. The fourth open casino locale was granted to Tioga Downs in the Southern Tier but the committee’s vote will come on Monday.
