Bergen County Workers Political Motivations In Dismissals

Eight Bergen County employees have brought a suit against three fellow County employees claiming that their support for former Republican County Executive Kathleen Donovan led to their dismissal. Statements filed with the court explain how the employees described being “marginalized” or transferred to lesser positions after Tedesco took office since November of last year. Donald Diorio of the Department of Public Works, said, employees “should not be made the victims of the political whims of the defendants simply because we were not supporters of a political campaign.” Phillip George, an attorney for the administration, argued that there was no evidence that the plaintiffs were targeted due to political affiliations. The suit was filed by Della Carroll, Joyce San Fillipo, Jo Marie Sachinelli, Nancy Brennan, Christine Healy, Vanessa LaGarde, Joseph Appio and Donald Diorio. They named Tedesco, County Administrator Dominic Novelli and Bergen County Director of Personel Ralph Kornfeld as defendants.
