Westchester Legislature Agrees on Budget

Westchester County officials agreed on a budget last week, with no tax increase for residents. Michael Kaplowitz, the Chairman of the Legislature stated on Friday that members agreed to pass the plan proposed by County Executive Rob Astorino, which calls for the layoff of 25 county employees, as well as cutting 60 vacant position and 158 employees taking a retirement incentive opportunity. The Legislature had voiced concern regarding the elimination of funding for nonprofit organizations. The budget is expected to be passed today.
