Westchester Legislature Proposes Ban for Gun Shows

Westchester County Legislators have proposed a law in attempt to ban gun shows at county owned facilities. Earlier this month Supervisor of Greenburgh, Paul Feiner, sent a letter to county government urging the annual gun show at the County Center be cancelled permanently, following a deadly shooting at a college in Oregon and much of the nation’s call for a change to gun laws. Weiner stated on Tuesday after the Legislature’s decision to support his position, “I don’t think it makes any sense for the county to be promoting guns by allowing shows in government buildings.” The proposed law was sponsored by eight of ten democrats on the board, and County Executive Rob Astorino’s office stated that they remain against the ban, and would consider allowing gun shows there in the future.
