Middletown Elementary School Locked Down After Gun Threat

According to police in Orange County, a threat of violence shut down an elementary school on Tuesday. State Police stated a phone call was made around 9:00 AM informing them that there was an active shooter at the Maple Hill Elementary School in Middeltown. The threat was later changed to a bomb warning and when officers arrived they placed the entire school in lockdown, using bomb sniffing dogs in every part of the building. Nothing was found and the procedure was lifted. Officials with the district stated that students remained safe the entire time and according to Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus he and local officials will be teaming up with state and federal government to help reduce threats such as these.
