Stony Point Officials Filing Lawsuits Over Haverstraw Sewage System

Two Rockland County towns are disagreeing on a deal regarding the sewer system they share. At a press conference Stony Point Supervisor Geoff Finn stated that Haverstraw officials are attempting to terminate their deal set up in 2005, allowing Stony Point to utilize their services and sewage lines. The Supervisor and town board met this week to discuss their decision to take the other town court, stating that the agreement was made for twenty years, though Haverstraw is looking to end services next year. Haverstraw officials have not released any statements on the pending lawsuits. Finn stated that the contract should apply for ten more years and some residents and officials believe this is an attempt to increase the chances of the proposed Legoland Theme Park on the grounds of Letchworth Village.
