Man Struck by Metro-North Train

According to officials, a man was killed when struck by a train in Mount Vernon on Tuesday night. The man, whose identity has not been released by police, was walking on the tracks toward the oncoming Metro-North train around 7:00 PM, near the Mount Vernon East Station, when the conductor attempted to stop the train. Despite the horn being sounded multiple times, the 29-year old New Rochelle man continued walking, and was struck and killed. The train was empty and headed to Grand Central Station. Police are continuing to investigate why the man was on the tracks.
