Driver Seriously Injured in Early Morning Crash

A man was seriously injured in an early morning crash in Rockland County on Wednesday. First responders arrived at the scene of the accident on Route 202 in Montebello around 12:50 AM, to find a two-car crash, and were forced to extricate the driver of a Cadillac, a 28-year old Haverstraw man, who was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment to serious injuries, though they were not life-threatening. The driver of the other vehicle, a 33-year old Suffern man fled the scene on foot and was found nearby where police arrested him on charges of driving while intoxicated, vehicular assault, and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury. Route 202 between Viola Road and Copeland Drive was closed for several hours as officials investigated and worked to clear the scene.
