Structurally Deficient Rockland Bridge to Be Rebuilt

According to Rockland County officials the Orangeburg Road bridge is set to be reconstructed beginning in the spring of 2016 and most likely be completed in 2017. Highway Superintendent Skip Vezetti stated that crews have been repairing the crossing over the CSX rail line between Route 303 and Western Highway for years, but it is now in need of a better solution. The federal government will be paying 80% of the $12 million cost, along with the state paying 15% and the county 5%. Both the Legislature and the County Executive agreed that now is the time to invest in infrastructure for the sake of the residents that travel the roads and bridges daily. When construction begins two lanes at a time will be worked on until all four are completed.
