Multiple Legionnaires’ Cases Found In The Bronx

The New York City Department of Health is alerting the public of a new cluster of Legionnaires’ cases in the Morris Park section of the Bronx. The Health Department were notified of the cases in the last week from September 21-27th with patients all between the ages of 45 and 75 and are currently hospitalized. Investigative measures have begun including inspecting and taking samples from cooling towers in the area and working with nursing homes and senior centers in Morris Park to monitor residents and staff health. Legionnaires’ disease cannot be spread from person to person. Those living in the affected area with flu-like symptoms should call their doctor immediately.
