National Drug Take-Back Day

Rockland County officials are teaming up with the Clarkstown Police Department and CVS Pharmacies to help residents collect and discard old medicines or drugs. On Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM people can drop off their unused or unfinished prescriptions at the New City and Bardonia CVS locations as part of National Drug Take-Back Day. The Drug Enforcement Agency is not able to accept liquids or needles and sharps, but pills may be dropped in the bins, no questions asked. According to County Executive Ed Day the overprescription of pain killers and other drugs is a large cause to the start of addictions. While, the county does have a year-round drug collection program with the Sheriff;s Office, the County Executive stated that the drug take-back day will allow those with an aversion to police stations to safely discard unused prescriptions.
