Windsurfer Rescued from Hudson River

A New City man was rescued from the Hudson River on Sunday after an incident while he was windsurfing. Ben Kaufman, a veteran windsurfer, left from the Westchester side of the river around 1:30 in the afternoon and was near the Stony Point shore when the mast broke, leaving him without a sail and stuck in the middle of the river. Kaufman was taken to shore by the Rokland County Sheriff’s Marine Unit after off-duty patrol sergeant Albert Brunner, who was passing by in his personal powerboat, saw the man and helped him out.
