Linden Officer Pleads Not Guilty In Fatal Drunk-Driving Accident

27 Year-old Linden Police Officer Pedro Abad plead not guilty to a 27-count indictment from a fatal accident that killed two and injured others from June 13. Prosecutors accuse Abad of leaving a strip club with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 before crashing head-on into a tractor-trailer while driving in the wrong direction of the West Shore Expressway. Abad’s two passengers Joseph Rodriguez and fellow Linden Police Officer Frank Viggiano, both 28, were killed with a third passenger, Officer Patrik Kudluc, injured but later released from the hospital. Abad faces between 8 1/3 and 25 years in prison if convicted on the highest count, aggravated vehicular homicide.
