Rockland County Legislature Approves Layoffs at Summit Park Hospital

The Rockland County Legislature voted at their Wednesday night meeting to approve cuts at the Summit Park Hospital. According to County Executive Ed Day, the sale of the facility will have a major impact on Rockland’s 2016 budget, which the Legislature and Day must agree on and approve by the end of this year. The sale of the hospital is expected to be finalized on September 30 for $32 million. Members of the Legislature voted 11-5 on Wednesday to approve 432 positions be eliminated. Last week Ed Day stated that the step was necessary for the sale to go through, and if the Legislature did not make a decision soon it would put the budget at risk.
