Ramapo Ward Vote Being Challenged

A group of residents in Ramapo have officially filed a request with the state Supreme Court to throw out the recent ward referendum results and hold another vote. Residents Michael Parietti, Robert Romanowski, and Deborah Seidman-Munitz filed papers with the court challenging the vote, stating that the number of unregistered voters that participated resulted in a flawed count. Town officials have stated that the vote was official and the counting of the ballots, which took place last month, was done correctly. The ward referendum would allow voters in Ramapo to elect a representative based on the area they live, and proponents are now claiming that the rules on the day of the vote were not stated clearly by officials.
