According to police in Bergen County, a man is facing charges after his vehicle struck a pedestrian on Friday evening. 24-year old Troy Saucier of Suffern New York in Rockland County, was driving his Jeep Liberty around 6:40 PM when the vehicle jumped the curb in front of a Walgreens on Broadway in Elmwood Park New Jersey, striking 65-year old Rajim Hida. Hida was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. According to officials when they arrived at the scene Saucier needed to be resuscitated using Narcan, also referred to as the heroin antidote, and was found with drugs and paraphernalia in his car. Police stated that they charged the man with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, and driving recklessly, as well as one count of vehicular homicide and took him to Bergen County Jail where he is being held on $100,000 bail.
