Rutgers Students Suspended Following Arrests

Seven Rutgers students have been suspended following arrests Thursday on charges included assault and robbery. Chancellor Richard L. Edwards explained that, “the alleged behavior warrants an interim suspension until additional information becomes available.” Five of the seven are members of the nationally recognized Rutgers football team. The charges come from a string of crimes that occurred during the spring semester in the New Brunswick area including an assault and a drug related home invasion. Burglary, robbery, theft, and possession of a weapon are among the list of charges from separate incidents on April 26 and May 5. The two other students were charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and attempt burglary. The news comes on the heels of Rutgers Football coach Kyle Flood facing his own possible suspension for a possible violation of school policy.
