Nonunion Rockland County Employees to Get Raises

According to Rockland County officials 73 employees not represented by a union will be receiving raises this year. Officials with the Personnel Department stated that the salaries of 54 management positions and 23 others will be getting as much as 5% increases, though they vary for each position. A hearing will take place on September 16 to further discuss the rise in salaries after which County Legislators will vote to approve them or not. Personnel Commissioner Joan Silvestri stated to the Journal News that many of the nonunion employees in the county have never received a raise, and many more haven’t seen an increase in nearly five years. The raises will cost taxpayers $113,033 this year and $326,541 each year to follow.
