Ramapo College Plans Stronger Enforcement of Sexual Assault Protocol

Security changes could be coming to Ramapo College as a result of a sexual assault that occurred in November. Anne Milgram, a former New Jersey Attorney General was hired to review college practices and protocol after the incident occurred. The investigation found that Ramapo College has been lenient with alcohol rules and that parties are often held within the dorms. Milgram suggests banning hard liquor and hiring more officers to patrol the campus especially in the overnight hours. Ramapo College toughened their alcohol rules last February after another incident occurred, however according to the report it does not seem the rules are being enforced as much as promised. Ramapo College released information on what they plan to change as a result of the investigation, which included better training on preventing sexual assault and better handling and understanding of sexual assault allegations. The college also plans to increase their security force by adding six positions.
