Tractor Trailer Hit by Train in Rockland

According to Clarkstown Police a tractor trailer was involved in a collision with a CSX train on Wednesday night. Police stated that around 7:00 PM the truck was heading East along Pineview Road when it crossed the tracks and was hit by the train which was heading North. No one was injured in the incident, and the train was not damaged. Officials for CSX stated that the freight train, which was carrying solid waste, was not damaged at all and there were no spills of any type. Congresswoman Nita Lowey released a statement saying that the results of the accident were lucky and further prove the need to regulate trains passing through the county. Lowey proposed $350 million in the 2016 Transportation Spending bill for improvements made to crossings, as well as a bill that would prohibit crude oil from being transported by trains. According to police the tractor trailer had minimal damage, to the back end. The crossing remained closed as police cleared the scene and investigated the crash.
