Former Rockland Official Faces Sentencing on Friday

A former Rockland village official will be sentenced on Friday for her accused part in a corruption scheme. Noramie Jasmin was Mayor of Spring Valley until 2013, when she was arrested on charges of mail fraud and extortion after being accused of using political favor to help approve a catering hall on village property in exchange for partial ownership. She will be sentenced to a potential 97-121 months in prison as well as $55,000 in restitution, recommended by the US Attorney’s office, though her lawyers are requesting home confinement.
