Wesley Hills Resident Guilty In Child Luring Incident

26 year-old Abraham Widenbaum of Wesley Hills plead guilty to endangering the welfare of a child in Rockland County Court Tuesday and will serve the next three years on probation. Widenbaum was indicted last September on a felony charge of first-degree attempted sexual abuse and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child when he was accused of luring a 6 year-old boy to an empty synagogue with the promise of candy. He was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the time as he was a resident of a group home for the developmentally disabled called Yedei Chesed. Prosecutors dropped the sexual assault charges before County Court Judge Rolf Thorsen. His probation will be served as a sex offender and was ordered a 5 year order of protection.
