Metro-North Officials Offer Late Night Options for NJT Riders

After New Jersey Transit’s decision last week to eliminate the 12:45 AM train from Hoboken New Jersey to Rockland County, Metro North officials are speaking out on behalf of the residents that will be affected. In September the Pascack Valley Line weekday late train will stop running, making the final train out of Hoboken the 10:42 PM. The weekend 12:45 will continue to run on Saturdays and Sundays. On Monday President of Metro-North Joe Giulietti presented two options at the MTA board meeting. The first is to move the departure time of the final weekday train from 10:42 PM later in an attempt to help commuters working late get a train home. The second option was to work with a Coach USA to set up a bus that would leave the Port Authority at 12:15 AM, though that does not help workers in New Jersey. 40 riders take advantage of the 12:45 train daily, which costs $640,000 a year to run.
