New York State Department of Health To Announce Medical Marijuana Organizations

News has been circulating around New York state that the Department of Health may announce this week the five companies granted with licenses to distribute medical marijuana. 43 companies throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut have submitted their 75-page question and answer applications as well as checks for the $10,000 non-refundable application fee and $200,000 registration fee to be returned to those companies who are not selected. The application window closed on June 5 and after a review process, a final decision is expected to come in a matter of days. Several applicants from Orange and Westchester counties see their facilities creating hundreds of new jobs and seek to provide for patients in non-metropolitan areas. The final five registered organizations will be allowed to create 4 dispensaries which must adhere to strict security and product tracking.
