Suffern Officers Administer Narcan

Two Suffern Police Officers are being credited with saving a man’s life after he reportedly suffered a drug overdose. Around 2:40 a.m. this morning, police received a call and responded home to find a 24 year-old man lying unresponsive. Sgt. Jose Martinez and Police officer Ryan Ortiz, assisted by Rockland Paramedics and Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corp administered a nasal dose of NARCAN into the mans lungs to counteract the overdose. The man regained consciousness and was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern for further evaluation. According to a post on the Suffern Police Department Facebook page, this was the first time the department had to use NARCAN since receiving it, which has been distributed to police departments in response to the spike in heroin usage across the country.
